The girls and boys indoor track and field teams took part in the 3rd Tri-State meet of the season.

The meet began with the sprinters and hurdlers taking the track. Mackenzie McIntyre and Cameron Thomas both qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash. Cam was not able to compete in the finals due to a lingering hamstring issue. Mackenzie ran herself to a 2nd place finish, running a personal best at 8.10 seconds. In the 60 hurdles, Paris Bey qualified for the finals where he broke 10 seconds for the first time in his career, taking home 8th place.

Larissa Lockridge and Nia Jones both competed in the 200 meter dash. Larissa secured a 12th place finish with a time of 28.46 seconds. Nia crossed in 29.16 seconds. Paris Bey also took part in the 200, clocking a time of 24.42 seconds. Senior Mylah Faulk took home 2nd place in the 400 meters with Jadyn Golden securing 8th place.

The distance runners made their first appearance this season. Junior Sawyer Kinney and Freshman Avin Keller both ran in the 1600. Sawyer opened his season with a 5:16.29 while Avin set a 30 seconds personal record. Amanda Heide made her third appearance in the 800 this week. She continued to rack up valuable race experience against a strong lady’s field.

In the field events, Damiana Hopkins threw for 25 feet-10 inches in the shot put, good for 20th on the day.

In the relays, the boys (Avin, Paris, Tindah Mofor, and Sawyer) ran a DMR for the first time this season, crossing the line in 13:45.68, just behind Chartiers Valley. The girl’s 4x200 took home 1st place on the day in 1:50.80. Mylah anchored the girl’s 4x400 relay to a close 2nd place finish against North Allegheny, clocking a 59 second split over the quarter-mile distance.

The team will travel to Youngstown University next Saturday for their 4th meet of the season.
