Eliza Brennan was the first athlete to qualify for the state championship on Saturday at Youngstown State University. Eliza placed second in the 400 meter dash in 59.72. Miniya Pinnix kept her undefeated streak in winning the 800 with a season best time of 2:23.20. Kemi Balogun won the triple jump with a season best leap of 35'5.5". Kemi also took 4th in the 60 meter dash in 8.27.
The girls 4x400 meter relay of Amanda McCann, Eliza, Fatih Crawford and Miniya won in a season best time of 4:10.28, just missing the state qualifying standard.
Jonah Silverman placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a season best 2:05.12. Angelo Allen placed 4th in the shot put with a throw of 47'3.25".
The boys' 4x200 meter relay of Shamarr Holmes, Donnell Blackwell, Alex Bell and Roland Glenn placed 8th in 1:43.61. The 4x400 relay team of Josh Lee, Shamarr, Roland and Jonah took 2nd place in 3:43.78.
