PTFCA State Indoor Championship

The Penn Hills Girls' Track Team performed very well at the state indoor track championships. Miniya Pinnix placed 10th in the 800 meter run. Miniya broke the school record for the 3rd time this season with a stellar time of 2:17.64. This time eclipsed the outdoor school record set in May of 2000 of 2:19.49.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Eliza Brennan, Elizabeth Blackwell, Drew Hines and Miniya placed 18th in 1:48.66. The 4x400 meter relay team of the same girls finished 9th one place from a medal with a season best time of 4:03.74.
Congratulations to these girls for a great season.

Miniya Pinnix took the silver medal with her second place finish in the 800 meter run in 2:21.48.
Drew Hines placed 7th in the 400 meter dash with a season best time of 1:01.87.
Eliza Brennan placed 7th in the 200 meter dash in 26.69.
The 4x200 relay team of Eliza,Miniya, Kiera Ward and Elizabeth Blackwell placed 2nd in 1:48. 71.
The 4x400 relay team of Eliza, Drew, Kiera and Miniya placed 3rd in 4:11.70.
Angelo Allen threw a season best in the shot put with a heave of 42'2.5".

Despite the cold temperatures inside the Edinboro Dome the Penn Hills track team heated up the facility. Kiera Ward who ran well in the 60 dash and hurdles stepped into 2 relay spots and exceeded all expectations. Kera anchored the girls 4x200 meter relay along with Eliza Brennan, Drew Hines and Miniya Pinnix to a close victory over Butler. The girl's time of 1:47.67 is a season pr and ranks them 11th in the state.
The same girls also defeated Butler in the 4x400 meter relay with a season pr of 4:07.60 which is 8th in the state.
Miniya won the 800 meter run in 2;25.63. Eliza placed 5th in the 200 meter dash in 27.14 and Drew Hines placed 6th in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.93.
Angelo Allen made the finals again in the shot put with a throw of 40'2".
The team will compete on Saturday, Feb. 16 at TSTCA Indoor Championships at Edinboro.

Miniya Pinnix in her most competitive race of the season took over 4 seconds off her school record finishing a strong second to Greensburg Salem's Malia Anderson who holds the PA #1 indoor time this season. Miniya ran 2:20.01 which is over a second faster for the qualifying time for the state meet.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Miniya, Eliza Brennan, Drew Hines and Elizabeth Blackwell took first and qualified for the state meet with a time of 1:48.38.
The same individuals took first place in the 4x400 meter relay with a season best time of 4:10.33.
Eliza placed 4th in the 200 in 26.79.
Drew was 5th in 400 in 1:02.11.
Angelo Allen threw a season best of 40'8.5" bettering his pr by over 2 feet.
The team is off next week but will compete again at Edinboro on Feb. 9th.

Freshman Angelo Allen reached the finals of the shot put and recorded a personal best throw of 38'7".
Miniya Pinnix continued her dominance in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.91. The team was missing several members because of participation in advance placement classes on Saturday.

Freshman Miniya Pinnix started her high school track career in stellar fashion. She not only ran away with the race with a time of 2:24.37 taking first place but broke a 15 year old school record by distance star Kaitlin Grimm. Miniya also anchored the 4x400 meter relay to a winning time of 4:12.40 along with Eliza Brennan, Caroline Webb and Drew Hines.
Eliza took 6th place in the 200 meter dash in 27.10 as Drew placed 4th in the 400 meter dash in 1:03.25.
Kiera Ward had a very good day placing in both the 60 meter hurdles 5th pace in 10:26 and 60 meter dash 8th place in 8.49.
The team will compete on Saturday, Jan. 12th in the second TSTCA meet at Edinboro University.
