Darien Mallory led the Penn Hill's Cross Country team at The Tri-State Cross Country Championship at California University. Darien placed 184th in 20:04. Austin Stuchul finished in 214th place in 20:41. Hunter Shields placed 221 in 20:53. Luke Hansen finished in 229th place in 21:19. Josh Gerken placed 245th in 22:38 and Devonte Kelly was 252nd in 29:54.
The team will be competing next Thursday on the same course for the WPIAL Cross Country Championship.
Section 4 Championship

It was a tough day for the cross country at the section championships with the team dealing with some injuries and not being at full strength. Freshman Austin Stuchul had a good race leading the team 20:03 in 46th place taking a full minute from his time on the same course 3 weeks ago. Hunter Shields placed 55th in 21:36. Darien Mallory battling a foot injury placed 57th in 21:45 followed by Luke Hansen in 59th place with a time of 21:49. Josh Gerken placed 63rd in 24:36.
Uniontown Invitational

Hunter Shields once again led the Penn Hills Cross Country Team finishing 93rd with a time of 21:33 on the challenging Penn State South Fayette Campus course. Austin Stuchul followed in 101st place in 21:53. Luke Hansen placed 122nd in 23:39 and Josh Gerken was 125th in 23:45.
Kiski Invitational

Hunter Shields once again led the cross country team with his 85th place finish in 20:24 at the Kiski Invitational on Friday, September 13. Darien Mallory followed closely with a 94th place finish in 20:49. Austin Stuchul placed 99th in 21:05. Josh Geken was 131st in 24:10 as Nate Stefan placed 135th in 25:45. Devonte Kelly was 148th in 29:50. The team will compete on the same course on Oct. 2 for the section championship.

Austin Stuchul placed 39th in the AAA freshman race with a time of 20:30 on the Schenley Park 5k course. In the boys' varsity race Hunter Shields again led the team in 20:18. Luke Hansen beat out Darien Mallory at the line, both runners were timed at 21:37. Nate Stefan finished in 23:33, followed by Josh Gerken in 24:10 and Devonte Kelly in 27:55.
Gateway Invitational

The cross country team started out the season at the Gateway Invitational on the tough Boyce Park course. Hunter Shields led the team with a 50th place finish in 21:50. Following closely behind freshman Austin Stuchul in 54th in 21:58. Luke Hansen placed 62nd in 23:53. Josh Gerken was 67th in 26:28. Nate Stefan placed 68th in 27:03 and Devonte Kelly was 69th in 30:31.
The team will be back in action nest Saturday on the Red, White and Blue Schenley Park course.
